As an Avid4 Adventure Day Camp Instructor, you have the amazing responsibility of inspiring kids to lead active outdoor lifestyles. Our Adventure Instructors lead 2nd-7th grade campers and our Explorer Instructors lead K-1st grade campers. Discovery Instructors are responsible for leading our 3 & 4 year old campers.
Multi-sport Camps: During a week of multi-sport, instructor pairs guide campers through one adventure activity each day which can include: climbing or stand-up paddleboarding, mountain biking, hiking, canoeing and kayaking. On rock climbing and mountain biking days, instructors will partner with Specialist Instructors, who have advanced skills in each adventure sport.
Single Sport Camps: Instructors facilitating single-sport programs work with campers on one of our core sports for the entire week, including kayaking, SUPing, survival skills, rock climbing and mountain biking. Activities take place on and off-site, depending on program and camp location.
Staff should be confident in this age range’s needs and stages of development. You will be responsible for helping campers build confidence and comfort with outdoor activities, facilitating teamwork, engaging campers both during and after activities and maintaining a safety-oriented environment.
As a Day Camp Instructor, you will become part of a team of outdoor professionals who receives support and mentorship from our camp leaders, grow their teaching skills, and enjoy a community of peers who live the values our camps teach. The ideal candidates are detail oriented, highly organized, and ready for action. Just as important, being an Avid4 Adventure Day Camp Instructor means being ready to inspire youth to live an active, outdoor lifestyle and have a summer full of fun!
All Day Camp Instructor applicants will complete a general online application. During the interview process, we will determine which type of day camp and role is the best fit with your background and preferences.
*Avid4 Adventure requires that some California Instructors obtain a commercial driver’s license in order to transport campers to and from recreational areas in 15-passenger vans. Obtaining a CDL requires a specific CDL physical and passing two tests at the DMV (written and driving). The fee for both tests will be reimbursed by Avid4 Adventure. You will also receive an increase in your hourly rate upon obtaining a CDL. We will discuss this option with you as part of the interview process.
